Valentine Apres Ski Table for Two

'Tis the season for romance...

...and I'm excited to be joining a talented group of ladies in the Romantic Table for Two Blog Hop hosted by Chloe at Celebrate & Decorate.
Be sure to check out all the other fantastic tablescapes linked at the bottom of this post.

When I think of romantic settings naturally a table set in front of a fireplace comes to mind.

Often in the winter,  when Mr Delight and I come home from skiing, we will have a drink or meal in front of the fire but usually we just sit on the loveseat in the living room.

So I decided to design a special romantic table for our upcoming Valentine's dinner which will no doubt be enjoyed after we ski.

To create a rustic cozy vibe, I rounded up all my faux fur pieces and began by using one as a tablecloth.

A warm faux fur throw and pillow are so inviting to snuggle up in especially after a day of hitting the slopes.

I'll be wrapping myself in the more feminine white one :)

I thought we'd start by sipping a glass of sherry to warm the heart.  These glasses are special to me as they were my great aunt's.

I'm still trying to decide on the menu but I'm thinking a cheese fondue will make the perfect first course after the sherry.

These candleholders were the start of a side-piece for the table. I placed them around a faux antler shed.

Glittered faux roses were nestled in along with battery-operated fairy lights.

This heart-shaped tealight holder speaks of the occasion.

I hung a LOVE ornament from the faux antler. Faux red rose petals were scattered around.

The dish stack was done in red and white with a heart-shaped plate on top.

These snowflake napkin rings give a nod to the apres ski theme.

A snowflake decoration topped with a red glass heart sits to one side of the heart plate.

I like how the faux fur items give the table more of a masculine feel since Valentine's decor is usually quite feminine.

My winter mantel (seen here) was given some Valentine touches as well.

By adding some hearts to the snowflakes already on my winter mantel, the Valentine and apres ski themes are easily combined.

On the hearth, even the firewood gets a Valentine look.

Now that I have the tablescape all planned out for our Valentine's apres ski meal, I'm excited for the special day to arrive.

Indeed, LOVE is in the air...as we recently learned that our daughter has become engaged.  Another reason to celebrate!

  1. Lori, anyone who has a distaste for winter clime could certainly do a 180° degree turn when seeing how beautiful you can make it look. Consistent with other winter tablescapes of yours, this is outstanding as well! So truly romantic with the lighting of candles and fireplace, the textures of fur and glass, alongside more rustic elements like the wood, cones, and antlers.....I love this. Congratulations on your daughter's engagement. That'll certainly make for lots of enjoyable planning for the events leading up to and including her big day. She'll be lucky to have your talent in the planning!

  3. Lori, I want to grab a cozy throw and have a set at your table in front of the crackling fire (can I do that without having to ski? :) You've set the perfect stage and created a romantic mood while combining your winter elements with hearts and twinkling lights from the candles and your mantel. It's always a pleasure to visit and have a virtual seat at your table! Cheers to you and your daughter's engagement!

  4. Wow, Lori, You have thought of everything. What a clever personalized Apres Ski theme for your Romantic Table for Two. I felt as if I were right in your home warmly wrapped in your warm fuzzy throws and nestled by your fire. I could almost taste your aperitif in the pretty ruby red glasses of your aunt's. The glow of your candlelight and firelight and your attractively appointed tablescape definitely gives a romantic ambience. I'm impressed with your nighttime photography. The sparkle and glow is so pretty.
Congratulations on the engagement of your daughter. You do have reason to celebrate.
